While building approvals and home lending tell part of the home-building story, it's the sale of a new home that gives us the best insight into buyer sentiment. The data is unique to HIA and is collected each month from a sample of Australia 's largest 100 home builders.

Report contains:

  • A rolling two years of monthly detached house sales, for the largest 5 states - seasonally adjusted and national trend;
  • National multi-unit sales, seasonally adjusted; and
  • ABS Building Approval data, showing the moving lags between approvals and sales.
